*drumroll*
OKAAAAAAAAY. Here it is. My Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear commentary PART ONE.
Starting with...
3.1 Phillip Lim
This is really adorable. It's not really something new, but I just wanted to include this here because I really love the styling. The skirt is so shiny, which I like, and the gloves are definitely the finishing touch. I also like the look of the model. And the hair! Simply adorable.
Alexander McQueen
(Note: Prepare yourselves)
At first, I was a bit put off by the make-up. The over-the-top lips sort of made them look like harlequin babies (Trust me, you do NOT want to Google "harlequin babies"). Anyway, after watching the McQueen show a second time around, thanks to Fashion TV, I realized that the make-up look really worked well with the OMGWTFGENIUS clothes. Anyway, here's the first look from the collection, and I ultimately lalalaLOVED the houndstooth, one of my favorite patterns ever.
I loved the headpieces used in this collection, especially the umbrellas! This look is so chic, and the tweed is gorgeous.
Love love love the Cruella de Vil-like coat here. It looks so regal and luxurious.
This is my favorite headpiece in the collection. The clothes also look like optical illusions, so that's cool.
OH MY GOODNESS. The print in this fabric is IMMACULATE.
I'm not quite sure about this one because I love it from the waist up, but I'm not too keen on the two fun bags on both sides of her hips. I love the bottom part, though. And yes, THE PRINT!!!
This one is such a sweetheart. J'adore.
Okay, forget about the weird headpiece, but this gown is really pretty. I'm also quite taken with the print. Lovely.
She's like from a scene in a movie. I like what they did to her head, shoulders and arms. I like it, despite the unusualness.
Here's the final part of the show: the white angel and ...
The black angel. Work those wings, Magdalena!
Anna Sui
I'm a HUGE lover of prints and pretty dresses, so an Anna Sui collection is always a must-see.
Goooooooosssssh. I cannot get over this print, and oh god, the COLORS!!! *faints*
Did I forget to mention that I also loved the styling in this collection?
It's little Vlada Roslyakova in one of her cutest looks. I adore the color scheme, the print, the leggings! And yes, the headpiece, too.
Zac Posen
The clothes in this collection are not really my style, honestly, but the MAKE-UP is awesome!
The eyes are so smoky and the lips are a perfect shade of reddish orange. These beauty shots don't do justice to it at all.
The way the light hit on the models' faces on the runway made it look soooooo pretty.
Forget about the clothes, and just focus on the make-up.
Pretty pretty pretty.
Erin Fetherston
Fetherston is known for her very feminine/girly dresses, but in her Fall collection, she showed a little bit more of an edge, I could say.
I found that I'm really into this type of silhouette.
A mix of hard and soft fabrics.
I love that she used masks as headpieces. Very quaint.
The platform mary janes are cute.
OKAAAAAY. This is it FOR NOW.
Please check back for PART TWO of the Fall 2009 Ready-to-Wear commentary. I might even add couture to the mix. ;)
Ciao.
